Remember why you were picked for deputy over all the others Hawkfeather....remember that you focus solely on work and try not to let others get in the way of your goals and dreams. It needs to stay that way...keep your focus and one day you will be a leader.
The black she-cat had to remind herself of this every time she walked into camp. Her eyes would fall on a tom that perhaps she found interesting, however, she didn't want to be like her mother....before her mother died she recalled the horror stories of her love affairs. How her true love had almost mated with another. She certainly didn't want that. She couldn't hate her father, no not at all because they ended up together. But that foolish she-cat who mated with a ThunderClan cat.....
Hawkfeather slithered through the pine forest and mud letting her temper flare. She was still young, and was constantly reminded about that by the senior warriors. She was still young which meant she was still foolish. She would also have plenty of time to make mistakes. How could she make mistakes if she only focused on her job? As far as she was concerned for being deputy since she was 18 moons old, that was a pretty high achievement.
"I Now Welcome you as---
"Blazestar...I know you wanted my name to be Hawkheart for my bravery...but I would like it to be...Hawkfeather...please after my mother..."
"I welcome you as HAWKFEATHER, warrior of ShadowClan."
Hawkfeather winced. Had she been foolish to take on the name of her mother. A mother who lied to her. She dug her claws into the mud before curling her lip into a snarl. At the sound of a mouse she whipped her head around and leaped. She didn't care if it squeaked. She needed to take her frustration out on something. As she killed it, it did just that. She wasn't on a hunting patrol anyways.
She buried her kill and sat up straighter as she wind rustled the pine needles. She closed her eyes and started breathing slowly. She was over stressing about the little things...and perhaps talking about it would help.

All that could be seen of the young ginger leader, was the outline of her body. With her long legs and thick fur that made her seem like age was larger then she really was. But, in reality, Rowanstar was actually a somewhat slender she-cat that had long legs. Making her different then most of get clan. Who was larger and a little bit more muscular then most of the other clans where. But with her build, she was more like a WindClan cat. Slender and long-legged. Able to run very quick. Maybe one of her ancesters where actually part WindClan.
Looking out over the clan, Rowanstar watched as her warriors padded in and out of the dens. Done going to the fresh kill pile. Apprentices annoying the elders and making warriors scold them for it. Then, there where the kits, all playing out in the camp, keeping their mothers on their toes. Making sure that they didn't get into any trouble. A smile crossed over the dark pelted she-cats face, as she thought about how amazing her clan was. With the kits that would be sure to keep the clan going. And the elders, who showed just how long the clan had lived so far.
One cat did catch Rowanstar's eye. It was the figure of a black cat. Rowanstar identified the she-cat as Hawkfeather, her deputy. The she-cat was just as young when she had become deputy, as Rowanstar had been when she had become deputy. Only 18 moons. While Rowanstar was only 27moons at the moment. And she had become a leader when she was only several days into becoming the deputy. So, Rowanstar had been deputy only nine moons ago. She was very young to become a leader. But then again, Hawkfeather was young, just as Rowanstar had been to become the deputy.
Rowanstar had not really had much time to get to know the young black she-cat. Who, Rowanstar really would to like to get to know.
Making her way down into camp, Rowanstar make her way over to the entrance of camp. But not before telling one of her warriors to make sure that nothing whent wring while she was gone. Because anything could happen while the leader or deputy was not there. That was something that Rowanstar didn't want to happen while she was not there. Or when Hawkfeather was absent as well.
Following the sent of the deputy, Rowanstar padded lightly threw the pine forest. Amongst the shadows, when her pelt was dark, so it blended well with the shadows. The stench of rodent blood filled her nose. It was a mouse. It was Hawkfeather that had caught a mouse. Watching from the shadows, the dark red leader stepped out once the mouse was buried. Her blue eyes looking over her deputy. "Hello, Hawkfeather," Rowanstar mewed to her.

Turning around, her haunted blue gaze locked on with Rowanstars. She attempted to gather her words, but only managed a feeble nod of her head in response to the ginger she-cats greeting. The black she-cat knew that Rowanstar had been young just like her to step into such a high position. Especially since most leaders were 40 or 50 moons old. Here was ShadowClan with a 21 moon old deputy with a 27 moon old leader. It mused the black warrioress, to an extenent.
There weren't that many good warriors. She recalled the leader before, Blazestar saying to Rowantail. Hawkfeather a dawn after her warrior ceremony received her first apprentice. She While in training she remembered the terrible death that Blazestar had. On his last life the 78 moon old leader had passed because of sickness. A terrible one at that.
The same night her young apprentice Swiftpaw had become a warrior, she became a deputy. Why? Because she wasn't foolish like the other warriors. She wasn't one to get herself caught up...She was there to help her clan, make sure the cats were safe...unlike her mother.
"MOM HELP ME!" Hawkpaw mewed. Her paw dangled from the edge of a high gorge. Her mother stood above her watching. Feathermoon would have had to jump to a small rock that looked like it wouldn't hold her weight. Wise wide open she shook her head. Her daughter was going to die."
I'm sorry Hawkpaw....I'll see you in StarClan one die...." The she-cat mewed. She winced. However shortly after a warrior sprinted forward. It was Blackfeather! The black and white she-cat jumped to the unstable rock and hooked her fangs into the she-cats scruff and tossing her back to safety. As she did so the rock that held the senior warrior toppled over and into the ravine....
"Hello Rowanstar." She finally managed to mew after a moments silence."Nice day for a patrol, I figured I would go out on my own...give some warriors a break." She twitched her whiskers and parted her jaws once more."Care to walk and talk with me?" Hawkfeather knew it would be better to get the betrayal of her mother off of her chest. Then she started to wonder....When Blazestar made her a warrior did she choose the feather portion after her mother, or after the noble warrior who saved her.

All Rowanstar got in return was a simple nod. She wondered why the black deputy had not said a word. But then again, she wasn't Rowanstar, and Rowanstar did like to talk, well, a lot. It was kind of a problem of her's. Sometimes, she just couldn't seem to be able to even keep herself from uttering more words. Maybe she was just a little to social, but she hadn't always seen like this. Even if Rowanstar didn't have all that many friends in fear of being betrayed by the ones she lived so much, she stuck with the ones she knew too well.
The silence was just killing the dark ginger leader. She didn't like awkward sighlences after all, they where so, quiet. But as Rowanstar gazed at Hawkfeather, she noticed that she must be thinking. Having ghat somewhat blank expression on her face. But as Rowanstar looked harder, she could see pain in her eyes. Hawkfeather was probably thinking about bad memory that she had. Just like how Rowanstar sat up at night wondering if she should even be the leader of a clan. After all, she had allowed had bother to die at her fathers own claws. Along with her sister.
Hello Rowanstar.
Finally, Rowanstar thought with a rush of relief coming over her body. Hawkfeather had finally said something to break the silence that had lasted way to long in Rowanstar's opinion. Even if it wasn't much. It was still something that Rowanstar could say something. She was about to break the silence herself anyways, but she thought it a good thing that she hadn't had to. It would have only made it all the mire awkward. At least that was what Rowanstar thought.
Nice day for a patrol, I figured I would go out on my own...give some warriors a break.
Now they where getting somewhere. Hawkfeather was actually starting a conversation, at least that was what Rowanstar thought. She wasn't very good at reading others emotions. She had enough of her own to try and comprehend, she didn't need the weight of more sadness, or more of anything else waying down her shoulders.
"That's good, the warriors could use a break after all, they do so much work for the clan," Rowanstar said smoothly. Feeling it was the right time to say at least one thing in response to what Hawkfeather had said.
Care to walk and talk with me?
A smile crossed over Rowanstar's face. She was glad that Hawkfeather was offering. Because then they would be stuck just standing there all awkward like. That would not be good at all. At least if they where walking, they would be able to at least find prey and there wouldn't need to be to much talking amongst the two. But it really could get awkward within a short amount of time with them just walking and not saying much at all to each other.
"Sure, maybe we could also catch some prey as well," Rowanstar mewed. Even if the clan wasn't to short on prey, it wouldn't hurt to at least get prey stocked up so no one wound end up going hungry.
