Name Shrewleap
Age 25 moons
Gender She-cat
Clan ThunderClan
Position Deputy
Short Description Lithe brown tabby she-cat with yellow-green eyes.
Description Shrewleap is not the kind of cat that strikes anyone as being out of the ordinary. The only things that would make her look a little unique is her rather petite size and fairly large ears. Her pelt holds a classic tabby pattern, mottled brown with black stripes dancing along her fur. Her fur is short and neat but not sleek, and she is a well-muscled, graceful she-cat. Her eyes are a classic yellow-green, rimmed with brown around the edges.
Personality Shrewleap is one of those cats that, first and foremost, loves her clan. She is intensely loyal and would never think of betraying it. She'd give her life for it and her clanmates in a heartbeat. However, when it comes to rules, she can be a bit iffy. If she thinks following a rule is going to hurt someone or if it's unjust, she'll recklessly break it, but if it benefits the clan, she'll be the first to strictly enforce it.
The recklessness leads to another part of her personality. Shrewleap is bold, impatient, and has a rather reckless streak at times. Despite her gracefulness, she is a horrible hunter. She is completely impatient, easily losing her focus with such menial labor and has a horrible time training apprentices or dealing with them in general. However, in battle, she moves instinctively, her recklessness turning into a sort of sharp precision and at times, giving her the upper hand. When in the heat of the moment, she seems to think and keep her cool best. She makes better, less reckless decisions and has less of a temper.
Shrewleap may have a temper and be a reckless, impatient mess at times, but she is very popular despite this. She's one of those cats that is horribly optimistic and almost always thinks on the brighter side of things. She's hyper and talkative, the type of cat who's quick to crack a joke and who seems to bring constant cheer to her clanamtes. She's naturally charasmatic, but seems to rarely let cats know how she really feels, hiding behind her joking, playful shell.
HistoryTwo small kits lay on their backs, eyes wide as they stare at the stars. They are barely more than 3 moons and are filled to the brim with hopes and aspirations and dreams.
"I'm going to be leader one day," Lionkit says, and his voice is filled with a quiet sort of confidence. He isn't cocky, but he is sure of where his pawsteps will lead him in a way that Shrewkit will one day wish she is. For now, her minds on playing moss ball and annoying warriors, and she only thinks of the present, not of what her brother could become.
"I'm sure you will," Shrewkit mews good-naturedly but distractedly. It's a common dream, and by the time they're apprentices, he'll surely outgrow it.
Except he doesn't.
They are apprentices now, and she's beginning to see in him what their parents and the other warriors do. He is an excellent cat, focused, intelligent, a born leader. She still lives for the present, hunting, fighting, patrolling, complaining. They are nearing the day that they become warriors, and they sit together after their first battle, blood still smeared in their pelts. She just wants to crumble to the ground, but he stands tall and strong, ready to take on the world. "I'm going to be leader one day," He meows, and this time she believes him, believes in everything he is. She's never been more proud of her brother.
It's been a few moons since they've become Shrewleap and Lionfrost. She's perfectly content where she is as a warrior, but Lionfrost is always striving forward. Then the day comes that changes them forever. It's a freak accident. It never should of happened.
It is an average patrol. Shrewleap, Lionfrost, and two other, older warriors all set out early in the morning. It was one of those patrols that was rather rowdy from the start, full of good humored jokes and a few playful scuffles. They hadn't had trouble in moons after all, and Lionfrost seems to be the only one taking things seriously.
That's when the kittypet shows up. He's a rather large tom, but he panics like a kit the moment he sees the group of rough looking warriors. The two warriors that are with them are itching for a fight, and they began to chase it off. Shrewleap stands, uncertain and alone as her brother darts off, not one to be outdone. No one expects the kittypet to suddenly whirl on his attackers and begin clawing wildly, and Lionfrost is the closest target.
The bloodcurdling yowls of pain that come from her brother will stay with Shrewleap forever. He almost instantly falls to the ground, pawing helplessly at his eyes that are damaged beyond repair. The other two warriors claw into the kittypet fiercely before returning to Lionfrost's side.
The wait and the hope are the hardest parts. Shrewleap visits her brother daily, filled with hope that his eyes will get better. However, when the scars begin to fade, and his beautiful blue eyes remain pale and sightless, she knows. He knows. The whole clan knows.
He tries. StarClan knows he tries, but at best, he is a fairly bad fighter. But he will not be useless to his clan. He learns patience and how to be quiet and how to feel for sticks and such when hunting, and he learns to provide for his clan in the only way he can. Shrewleap watches in angst, wondering how her brother can even be remotely happy now. She pushes herself through training an apprentice, and watches her become a warrior, feeling pride despite their differences. She tries harder than she ever has before, for him, and suddenly, she's shaping up into a fine warrior, a cat who can be more.
One day, Lionfrost pads with her beneath the stars, just like all those moons ago, and he smiles. "You're going to make a fine leader one day," He mews, voice soft and warm. And just like that, she knows she has no choice. She has to carry on for him, and she does. She can only be herself, but she's a better cat now. She will do this for him, and for the other cats who were born for something and had it ripped so cruelly from them. She does it because she has to. [/blockquote]
