The sun had only just set as a gray tom sat in the heart of the territory, thinking about how his life could have been different. Scents swirled around him, and he was growing hungry. The small warrior didn't care though. He sat on a boulder, and stared at the sky. Maybe tomorrow will bring me joy. He thought sadly, but he doubted that would ever happen. He sighed and shook his head sadly, deep in thought. A thought appeared in the tom's mind. Why was I cursed to be this way? With no family left in my life, the one I love is dead, there's nothing in this place worth living for anymore. He thought as a tear slowly rolled down his muzzle, and his fur was flat. His tail laid in the dirt as more tears began to appear. His life was horrible, and he wished it would just end. The small, crying tom curled up on the boulder he was on, and he was shaking. His eyes flickered up to the sky, and he looked behind him, feeling as if someone was watching him. The gray tom continued to stare at the bushes where the rustling sound had come from.

A petite she-cat bounced along, green eyes bright as she looked around, taking in every detail of the forest that was her home. Her brown tabby pelt flickered with patches of sunlight, and her too-big ears flicked in different directions. Life was pretty good at the moment. Her brother seemed happy and had gotten his first apprentice, despite his blindness. And come on, she was deputy. True, the guilt she had felt when her brother struggled to congratulate her still gripped her heart, but he seemed to of come to better terms with it at least.
Suddenly, she paused, one paw raised in the air, brows furrowed. She creeped forward slowly, eyes widening in shock as she took in the poor tom's huddled, sad form. Instantly, sympathy filled her gaze, and she took a step forward unconsciously. She herself jumped at the sound of the rustling she had made, and feeling sheepish, she slowly stepped out, padding towards the tom cat, eyes bright with concern. "Are you ok?" she asked quickly, scrambling up on the rock beside him.

Ooc: Just know that for a few posts, instead of his name, I just put the tom, or the small tom, just for a bit. Ic: The small tom lifted his head, and blinked his amber eyes. He looked at the bushes again, but then put his head back down, not saying a word. Shallow winds came through, and he shivered. His pelt may be thick, but he was still always cold. He never knew why. The tom then wrapped his tail around himself and sighed. His eyes flickered skyward, then his gaze moved to her. "No." He mewed quietly, then looked off into the forest. He sighed greatly and shivered once more. His mind went back to his memories, the good ones. He at least had tried to remember the good times. But sadly, there were none.

Hesitantly, Shrewleap placed her tail on the tom's back comfortingly. She was usually pretty good at cheering up others, a sort of natural charisma she had always possessed, but she had a feeling no amounts of playful jokes would help this cat. "What's the matter?" she asked, crouching down, her green eyes searching his face, trying to grab onto something that would help her clanmate. She had saved Lionfrost from himself though, her poor ambitious brother who was struck by blindness, surely she could help this tom. What kind of deputy would she be if she couldn't?

The small tom looked back up at her. He sighed and shook his head. "It's just everything in the past. I know I should be forgetting about it and moving on, but everything is just ruined by my stupid father." He mewed, remembering what had happened. "My whole family is dead, all because of him." A small tear rolled down his gray muzzle, and he shook his head again, willing himself not to cry again. He slowly moved his tail from wrapping around himself. "But I'm the one who killed my father. He came back to finish off me, the last of my family, but I killed him. He may have been a killer, but he is still my father, and I killed him." He kept saying he had killed his father, and just kept saying it.

((Alright~)) Shrewleap's eyes widened again, showing her obvious shock. She let her own pelt brush his softly, a silent comfort to show she was there for him. "I don't think you should ever forget the past, no matter how bad it is. It makes you stronger in the long run," she mewed thoughtfully, hoping not to offend him.

Ooc: I'm using his name now, and I'll see you when you wake. And should something go on between Shrewleap and Breezefrost, or is that completely out of the question? I don't mean to bother you, I just need to know so I can work on his true character. Ic: Breezefrost smiled slightly, and a brief glance of shock crossed his face. A s-smile... I smiled... He blinked his amber eyes, his mind filled with confusion, but he managed a nod. "Yes, I guess you're right." He lifted his head as a new rustling began. He looked around, as it seemed the sound was coming from all around them. He gulped and he seemed to shrink and become smaller than he already was. "D-Do you h-hear that?" He asked in a whisper. A sharp scent was the first thing to catch his nose. He stood up, shaking slightly in fear, as he didn't know what to expect. His gray pelt shivered in the wind as he moved closer to the loudest place where the sound came from. The rustling continued as he moved closer. Breezefrost was now right in front of the bushes, quaking in fear. He jumped into the bushes expecting to be knocked back by a fox or a badger. He looked back at Shrewleap, holding up a dead rabbit. Them the rustling continued closer to the border. Breezefrost slowly walked to the sound, and he stood at the border, on his clan's side of it, and there was nothing nearby. He had just turned around when something jumped on him and pinned him to the ground. Breezefrost looked up to see the large build of the WindClan warrior, Flashclaw. Breezefrost struggled, but he wasn't able to get up. Flashclaw had his claws unsheathed, and placed them on his neck, a large smirk on his face. "Don't even try to run. There's nobody here with you." Flashclaw growled. That's when Breezestripe let out a yowl for help, aiming it at where Shrewleap was. "Shrewleap! Help!" He called out, and Flashclaw put a paw over his muzzle, and his other paw was kept against his throat. Breezestripe struggled, and a bit of his neck skin was then caught on Flashclaw's claw, and it tore a portion of it off. Luckily, it wasn't enough to draw more than a smidgen of blood, but he wasn't sure what Flashclaw's intentions were. He couldn't get away, as he was trapped under the large build of the WindClan warrior. Flashclaw had an exceptionally large build and was slower than most WindClan cats, but was still faster on land then the cats of ThunderClan, ShadowClan and RiverClan. Flashclaw's back left leg slammed down onto Breezefrost's chest, knocking all of the wind from his lungs. Breezefrost slipped out from under Flashclaw at the moment, and jumped up, taking in as much air as he could, then spun around and faced the other tom. Flashclaw lunged at him, but Breezefrost dodged easily. Breezefrost jumped on Flashclaw, and clawed at his back. He was thrown off, and slammed into a tree, knocking him out. Flashclaw prepared to finish off the tiny ThunderClan warrior. "Hehe. What a runt." Flashclaw smiled. Breezefrost's eyes flashed open. "What did you just call me?" He asked with a snarl. "You're a runt. You can't pin anything, not even a tiny mouse." Flashclaw mocked. Before he knew what had happened Breezefrost slammed into him, and he almost toppled. "Now who's the runt?" Breezefrost asked. Flashclaw snarled and jumped up at the small warrior who stood above him, and threw him to the ground, pinning him once more. Breezefrost cried out as he was thrown on his back and Flashclaw clawed at his belly. Tears began to drizzle down Breezefrost’s muzzle. “Aw, little runt so scared that he has to cry?” Flashclaw snickered. “Stop calling me that!!” Breezefrost screeched. "Finally time to get rid of my anger by killing someone." Flashclaw growled. At this point tears were streaming down Breezefrost's muzzle. Flashclaw laughed evilly. Ooc2: Hehe, I went a bit overboard on this post, but hey, I had a long amount of time. Hey, I used fifty thousand characters. And 712 words in this beautiful post. You think so right? Right? Cause I love it completely.

((XD It is indeed beautiful~))
Shrewleap instantly tensed, her lithe body turning rigid, and her eyes narrowed sharply. Sharp claws slid from their sheathes, glinting like razors in the scarce light that flittered through the trees. She might of been a fairly small cat herself, but she had always been a fighter. She was far too impatient to hunt, and her battle skills came naturally. She used size and speed and an odd mix of intelligence and recklessness when battling, something she had won countless battles with. It was one of the things that Pyrostar had thought of when picking her as his deputy, and she already had a reputation among the other clans as being a fierce, dangerous, and usually underestimated opponent.
Upon seeing her companion emerge with only a rabbit, her tense muscled relaxed, and she sheepishly licked a scar. They probably should of tried to scent it before getting all worked up. Her whiskers twitched with amusement, her eyes were dancing with laughter. "Nice catch," she purred. As he padded off in one direction, she did in another, thinking that she heard rustling somewhere also. She found nothing, of course, but as she was padding back to where they originally were, she heard a very familiar voice yowl her name.
She froze, body going rigid, heart racing, ice running through her veins and chilling her to the bone. She was brought back to moons ago, when she was on an average patrol with her brother and two other cats. Him yowling for help, blood pouring from his eyes as he yowled in pain, pawing helplessly at his eyes, she was late, too-
She shook herself out of it hard, teeth bared, eyes alight with determination. It wouldn't happen again. She was better now, stronger. And with that, she was gone, pelting through the undergrowth towards her clanmate. When she saw the bigger tom pinning him down, she flung herself at him, claws outstretch, furious anger in her eyes, a snarl on her lips.

Flashclaw turned his head too late and was knocked away from the tiny warrior. He growled and stood up, eyes blazing with hatred. "And who do you think you are?" He asked in a growl. Maybe killing two in one is just what I need. He thought. Breezefrost stood slowly, and realized one thing. Something was wrong with his front right leg. Something was different. "No..." He mewed quietly and shook his head slowly. Flashclaw stepped closer to the ThunderClan deputy, and bared his teeth.
Ooc: Broken leg. That's all. It's a big deal, but still. Oh, and I'm using the liquid time on this site for Flashclaw. It's cool that we have it.

((Ooh Okay.))
A few moons ago, Shrewtail would of been flat to the ground, ears back, eyes fiery, but she had learned better now. She stood tall and proud, eyes two cold, glinting stones set in her face. "I'm Shrewleap, the ThunderClan deputy. And you've just messed with the wrong cat you stupid furball," she hissed sharply, fur bristling. The tom was much bigger than her and much faster, but she knew what to do thanks to him.
A tiny she-cat was flung to the ground, panting tiredly, covered in dust. She was actually an older apprentice, but she looked more like a kit or a fresh new apprentice. She glared up at the monstrously large, intimidating black and white tom in front of her. He looked faintly amused, infinitely patient, but it only made her angrier. Snarling, she flung herself at him, only to be thrown back in the same position.
'C'mon Shrewpaw. You can do better than that. Concentrate. Most cats are going to be bigger than you. Use your size and unpredictability to your advantage. And most of all, don't let your anger get the best of you. Use it to your own advantage.'
Shrewpaw looked up at her mentor, eyes filling with fierce determination as she stood back to her paws. She had to be a good fighter, she just had to. She thought of Lionpaw, such a brilliant fighter. She was horrible at hunting, she couldn't be bad at fighting too. What about when Lionpaw became deputy and leader? How would he feel about having a worthless, incompetent sister?
Next thing she knew, her mentor was on the ground, and she stood over him, victorious, paw over his neck. Both cats were brimming with pride.'
"Don't worry Breezefrost. The rest of the patrol will be here soon," She called out, keeping her eyes set on the cat before her though. Nothing about her betrayed her lie, and she prayed that Breezefrost would catch on. "I was just a little faster than them." She didn't dare look back at her friend, for fear of what she would find and knowing the other tom would take advantage of her distraction. Without another moment to spare, she suddenly ran at the tom. It seemed like she was going to recklessly spring at him, try to idiotically tackle a ready cat easily tripling her size. But, at the very last heartbeat, without a pause, she suddenly rolled onto her back, sliding under his belly in an attempt to rake her claws across it before swiftly rising to her paws, hoping she made her mark. She hoped around, light on her paws.

Flashclaw moved one second too late, and Shrewleap did get him. As she slid out from behind him, she knocked his back legs out, and he toppled over and landed on the ground. Breezefrost nodded to Shrewleap and looked at Flashclaw. Flashclaw stood up and looked around, now afraid that he heard a patrol was nearby. He turned tail and began to flee, not even caring if they called him a coward. No way I'm facing a whole patrol. He thought.

Now, Shrewleap did let her anger show, eyes flashing as she hissed at the cat's retreating form. Her paws were itching to chase after him, to run him down and extract the justice that her friend deserved. But she knew she had more pressing matters to attend to. She threw out one last hiss, before stalking to her friend with stormy eyes. They instantly softened, brimming with concern as she sniffed over the tom worriedly. "Oh no, Breezefrost... I'm so sorry, I should of been quicker..." she hissed, quietly berating herself before offering her shoulder to help him stand. "C'mon we need to get you to the Medicine Cat..."

"It wasn't your fault." Breezefrost mewed quietly, now a softer side of him taking over, pushing away the angered side. He looked at his leg and slowly pushed himself to his paws. He silently let out a small cry as he had put too much weight on his leg. He tried to walk, and winced.

Shrewleap's tail flicked anxiously, eyes huge as she looked at her friend, ears flattening to her head. "Are you sure you can make it? Do I need to go fetch Patchfeather?" she asked, fighting the urge to pace in a circle nervously as she often did. But Breezefrost needed her support right now or else he definitely couldn't make it. Instantly though, she knew that leaving him wasn't a choice. What if that mouse-brain came back and found out he'd been tricked? He'd killed Breezefrost for sure. She shook her head sighing. If only she'd been faster, if only- She stopped herself quickly.

"I'm sure I can make it. It's not too far. I... I think..." Breezefrost murmured, though he wasn't too sure about it. He ignored the thought, and the last thing he wanted to do was make her feel bad. It wasn't her fault anyways. He yawned slightly, trying to show her that it wasn't anything bad. Ooc: Don't ask. Just don't.
